New Google Earth Imagery – November 12, 2013

It appears that Google has just pushed out a fresh batch of imagery!  Thanks to GEB reader ‘David’ for being the first to tell us about it, and ‘Munden’ for digging in and finding additional fresh locations.

This imagery has already arrived in Google Maps now, making it difficult to determine which is imagery is brand new. Fortunately, we know a few of the areas that have been updated, which include:

  • Italy: Brindisi
  • United States: Idaho (Hailey, Ketchum, Twin Falls), Iowa (Des Moines, Ottumwa), Maine (Caribou, Clayton Lake, Presque Isle, St. Agatha), Michigan (Gaylord, Grand Rapids, Mackinac Island, Muskegon, Owosso), Nevada (Cold Springs, Gerlack, Winnemucca), North Dakota (Garrison, Parshall), South Dakota (Hill City, Mount Rushmore, New Underwood, Rapid City, Sturgis)

If you find any other updated areas, please leave a comment and let us know!

  1. Hungary: Budapest, Gödöllő

  2. This new imagery is still not visible on the Maps desktop, but it’s the current on the Android app and Earth.

    • Haven’t checked all, but the imagery dated 4.11.2011 for Brindisi appears in Maps (‘old’ version) and GE on my iMac desktop.

  3. KMZ – the updates reported in the post and comments of 21October were covered by one KMZ dated 17 October and a second dated 22 October which arrived together on 6 November, so both ‘latest imagery’ and ‘previous updates’ (17.10) have to be checked to see them.

So irregularity in Google’s release of update information seems to be back, and it will be interesting to see what happens this time.

  4. Lugansk, Ukraine

  5. Sault Ste. Marie (both Michigan and Ontario). This is the second update in less than a year.

  6. But Poland, as usual, has not been updated! Shame!

  7. the google people were driving down my street in clarkston michigan the first week in november 2013

  8. It may have nothing to do with this update, and maybe it’s been noted already somewhere, but La Crosse, WI has the “new” 3D. (Nowhere else in Wisconsin does that I’m aware of).

  9. I also saw some new fresh imagery from Dresden, Germany. The rebuilding process of the old town is very good visible.

  10. Lviv, Ukraine also updated!

  11. Nurberg, Germany
    Praha, Czech Republic
    Pistoia, Italia
    La Pommeraye, France

  12. KMZ – Google have pushed out two update KMZs today (20 November): the first dated 7 November appears to cover the updates noted in this post and comments, but this has been followed by the second KMZ dated 20 November with further updates, so the 7 November KMZ has to be checked in previous updates to be viewed.

Both show extensive areas of updates, and are a mixed bag in terms of quality.

  13. Szombathely, Hungary in high quality imagery!
