Google pushing out 3D Imagery at a rapid pace

July 26, 2013

Last month we shared a big 3D Imagery update with you (June 11) when Google had added a few more cities.  Then a few weeks later they added more (July 3). Then last week they added a bunch more including:

United States: Ames, IA; Danville, IL; Midland, TX; Florence, AL; Fort Smith, AR; Pocatello, ID; Logan, UT; Athens, GA; Hyannis Barnstable, MA; Palm Springs, CA; Pine Bluff, AR; Lake Arrowhead, CA; Kokomo IN.

Europe: Lille, France; Colmar, France; Biel, Switzerland.

Now, thanks to GEB readers ‘Ernest’ and ‘Munden’, we see that they’ve added even more cities in the last day or two, including Dallas, TX; Macon, GA; Manhattan, KS; and Warner Robins, GA.

By our count that puts it somewhere around 150 cities total, with Google constantly adding more.

Here is our list of cities that now have 3D Imagery available, but please leave a comment and let us know if we missed any.

Google updates 3D Imagery once a week and there are over 150 cities to explore. It’s only a matter of time before the whole U.S is added

True, but the 3D coverage continues north into neighbouring France on the west of the Rhine and into Germany on the east to cover what in effect are suburbs of Basel. 🙂

In fact these former Metropolitan Counties to give them their correct name have been of only residual significance since they were abolished in 1986, but what would those outside the UK make of for example Sandwell, Calderdale, or Kirklees (none of which are cities either) if all the current administrative areas covered by 3D imagery were listed? The UK always has to be different 🙂
