New Google Earth Imagery – December 7

Google Earth has just rolled out some fresh imagery for us! Thanks to GEB reader ‘Andreas’ for being the first to let us know about it.

As is almost always the case, you can use Google Maps to determine for sure whether or not a specific area is fresh. This new imagery isn’t in Google Maps yet, so you can compare Earth vs. Maps to see what’s new; the fresh imagery is already in Google Earth, but the old imagery is still in Google Maps. If you compare the two side-by-side and they’re not identical, that means that you’ve found a freshly updated area in Google Earth!

  1. Paris, Frace

  2. Norway: Jørpeland

  3. Thailand: Ratchaburi

  4. Oradea,Romania.

  5. Hafeez Ullah Khan says

  6. I don’t know if it appeared today, but there is recent imagery for Santiago de Chile

  7. Ireland, North of Drogheda, Ennistymon in Clare, Abbeyfeale in Limerick, Youghal & Belgooly in Cork and a long strip from south Wexford Coast northwards to Dunlavin.

  8. San Marcos, TX and areas south of San Marcos.

  9. McMaster_de says

    Dalhart and Dumas, TX

  10. what about Slovakia? photos were there updated about half a year ago… but these photos are horrible.. full of clouds and i cant see there almost anything.. i mean exact area… its about 25 km to the east from capital city Bratislava, near city Senec 🙂

  11. St George, UT; Colorado Springs, CO

  12. @ Noel – IRELAND – thanks for your info, but you don’t comment on the very mixed quality of the images there, particularly the very poor dark and cloudy patches. In fact in the majority of the updated areas the quality of ‘historic’ images is better than the new. This continuing issue is making me hope that my favourite places on GE are not updated!

  13. Paris was updated, but I don’t like the quality of the imagery. It has the same unnatural purple-like color as many of the other recent updates in France. Not really an improvement…

  14. I am SO glad Colorado Springs has been finally updated. We went from 2006 to 10/22/2011 imagery. Much of Pikes Peak still bleached out but you can see the train on the summit 🙂

  15. USA:
    Poughkeepsie, New York
(as a note, you can see the Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome aircraft collection now)
Cameron, Texas (both Dalhart (Aug 15) and Dumas (Oct 5) are old imagery)

  16. Spain: Not just Barcelona, but most of Catelonia was updated. The exception is the NW corner.
    Milazzo and Sersale

  18. Turkey: Söke

  19. New imagery in Bosnia a strip from central Bosnia (near Fojnica) all the way to Sava river.

  20. PARIS – it’s good to see high res aerial photography for this great city … only problem is (judging from the length of shadows and vegetation colours) that it was flown in late September/early October, leaving many of the ‘deep’ streets and courtyards in shadow which hides detail.
It might be possible for Google to modify contrast, aside from the wider issue of colour balance, but the only real answer in densely packed cities at these latitudes in the northern hemisphere is to get images flown in June/July.
All the technical and information superstructure now built on GE and Maps is only as good as the quality of the foundation of images.

Remember CELAC birth: Now we are dispensables for USA, but we will win!!!! 🙂
    Hasta la victoria siempre!

  22. SW corner of Winnipeg, Manitoba, in Canada, has been updated.

  23. They’ve already pushed the images to Google Maps. I guess they’re eager to get this dealt with being near the holidays.

  24. Poland – areas just west of Warsaw: Żyrardów, Pruszków

  25. Canada: Orillia and Gravenhurst, Ontario

  26. KMZ for 7 December update is available / will have arrived

  27. Interesting today a second strip appeared in BiH right next to the first one dated 11 April 2011 but are not included updated kmz file. And now they can be accessed only going through historical imagery. Why? They are clearly better then the previous in that there where no hd images for the area.

  28. There has not been a update for 21 days. what happened?

  29. There has not been a update for 31 days, now.

  30. Bryan, TX

  31. I just noticed some new imagery in the SF Bay Area (East Bay region) of CA from this past October
