A message sent out last week by E-mail to the press has stirred the anticipation of Street View imagery coming to Spain. The E-mail was posted on a Spanish blog called Blog Urbanismo and says there will be a press announcement on Tuesday, October 28th, about the release of Street View imagery for Spain. I’ll be keeping a close eye on both Google Earth and Maps for the impending release (which usually happens several hours before Google makes a press announcement).
While you’re waiting, you might want to check out the new Street View imagery in France released on the 14th of October.
About Frank Taylor
Frank Taylor started the Google Earth Blog in July, 2005 shortly after Google Earth was first released. He has worked with 3D computer graphics and VR for many years and was very impressed with this exciting product. Frank completed a 5.5 year circumnavigation of the earth by sailboat in June 2015 which you can read about at Tahina Expedition, and is a licensed pilot, backpacker, diver, and photographer.
and dont forget the non-google street views of London released last week at:
http://www.novaloca.com/blog/index.php/2008/10/17/view-londons-commercial-property-in-street-level-view-with-novalocas-maps
The release did not say that Street View would be released on Tuesday; it said that the conference would be held on Tuesday. The actual release might come before, on, or after the date of the conference; we’re just gonna have to find out for ourselves. 😉
Wow! I can’t tell how excited I am! I already loved the France streetview, now Spain! My girlfriend is studying right now in Madrid, now I’ll be able to see her home and university online!
Spain is online: Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia and Sevilla have Streetview!
Looks like it’s live!
Another commercial outfit called Seety has also launched Street View style coverage of Central London on a Google map base and with a much simpler screen than Nova Loca (which incidentally failed to show any images when I tried it).
Go to http://seety.co.uk/ click on a location in the central part of London, then click again on the icon which appears. There does not seem to be a zoom , but the good quality images can be rotated through 360 dgrees, and you can easily ‘walk’ round an area.
So we are waiting to see if these enterprises galvanize Google into launching Street View for London and elsewhere in the UK.
We have now implemented Googles street view into our commercial property portal, we’ve found it to be a very useful tool for our users trying to locate office space, industrail units and retail space.
