The Taylor Monument – Visible Only in Google Earth

I got an amusing E-mail from Google Earth Community member Price Collins. Apparently Google has created a monument in my honor in Google Earth!

California Fires June 25 - 2008 in Google EarthGeorge Washington has a monument which is 169 meters tall.

Yours has been provided by Google (temporarily).
It is 306 meters tall atop Mount Taylor in the Yukon Territory. See the Taylor Monument.

Occasionally people will find strange objects in the Google Earth 3D terrain. These are data processing errors, and Google actually likes to get these fixed. But, they have to know about them first. Price Collins has actually been collecting errors found in the data for quite some time. He not only tracks terrain errors, but all kinds of interesting imagery errors, model errors, etc. Read more about his GE Data Error Compendium and download his collection which will show you the currently known errors – some of these can be very amusing.
Here’s a few examples of other interesting errors in the past (at least one is still there):

He has worked with 3D computer graphics and VR for many years and was very impressed with this exciting product. 1. I wish they did correct errors when they are brought to their attention. The eastern boundary of County Meath, just north of Dublin, Ireland, has been significantly incorrect for around a year despite the fact I reported it about three times through the Google Earth error reporting webpage over the last year. It would be great if Google would listen to feedback.
