Seven Wonders in Google Earth

November 22, 2005

Based on a collection from the WikiPedia, the Seven Wonders of the World is a collection of placemarks for Google Earth which was posted by one of the GE team members. The pIacemarks include some details, and a link, from the Wikipedia articles which give some background on the various versions of Seven Wonders of the World as they have evolved over time. Google Earth is certainly one of the fastest, if not best, ways to view the Seven Wonders. Included in the collection are the Seven Wonders of:

  • the Ancient World
  • the Medieval World
  • the Natural World
  • the Underwater World
  • and the New Seven Wonders – (voted on by people around the world)

Here’s the main Wikipedia article, and here’s the post at the Google Earth Community by ‘ink_polaroid’.

Will this make Google Earth faster or even slower.
256 mb memory and 1.25 Ghz 2mb broadband is very “tiny” today.
Is it possible to make the program “more local”. If you check roads in Sweden its no need for read in the roads in Canada.
I like the programme even if its slow.

GIS is a great thing. It has taught me how to use Google Earth to find interesting places and where I would want to go on vacation. I now know where exactly seven wonders of the world are they are.
