SketchUp 2014 and a refreshed 3D Warehouse released

While it no longer has the close connection to Google Earth that it once did, we know that many of you remain avid SketchUp fans and will be pleased to learned that SketchUp 2014 has been released. Along with the new version of SketchUp is a completely revamped 3D Warehouse.

3D Warehouse

There are quite a few enhancements to the main SketchUp product, including tweaks to the core SketchUp modeler and an updated API. For the 3D Warehouse, one of the best new features is a way to easily embed visuals of your 3D models via their new WebGL Viewer. As an example, the following embedded model should be fully 3D for most of you.

All in all, it’s some great enhancements to an already excellent program. Learn more over at the SketchUpdate Blog.

    the new 3dwarehouse…
can’t open my 3dwarehouse models directly into google earth anymore?
can’t view my 3dwarehouse models in a 3D google earth viewer anymore?
can’t see acceptance status for my 3dwarehouse models anymore?
can’t rate and review 3dwarehouse models made by others anymore?
can’t get ratings and reviews for my 3dwarehouse models anymore?
somehow can’t download kmz files for many of my models visible in google earth?
    …should bring back these features!

please send info if these features are still available but have moved to a less obvious location, thnx.

    • That should send to Trimble

    • 1. No
      2. Yes
      3. Yes, because you have to go to your browser just to upload one.
      4. Yes…
      5. I don’t know.
      6. Huh?

      • 1. No. Google kept Earth, sold 3dwarehouse to Trimble. We had a fun enough time at Google trying not to break this SketchUp / Earth connection. Workaround: Export / Import KMZ yourself. Rocket Surgery it’s not.
        2. See #1
        3. See #1.
        4. Coming, new and improved.
        5. See #4
        6. If KMZ’s were there, they should still be there. If not, load model in SketchUp, re-export KMZ.

  3. I think they took off the option to download the collada format in the models that used to have that format

  4. why can I not open anything of the new 3d warehouse into Rhino?

  5. Dinis COUTO says:

Yes, the screwed it up really bad. The new software is completely different, don’t know what to do with it, will have to relearn it all. I feel like kicking those programmers behind!

    • That’s a bit vague… care to provide any specific feedback? 3dwarehouse served both Earth and SketchUp while at Google. Trimble does not own Google Earth, it owns SketchUp. Since this is an Earth blog, I would expect some disappointment, but that’s not 3dwarehouse.

New 3dwh is very bad… Not webgl in thumbails3d, are 30 static images…

    notice is false..

not use sketchup more, not renew my license. my models will be deleted soon.
