New Google Earth Imagery – February 6

Thanks to sharp-eyed GEB reader ‘Auquicu’, we’ve learned that Google has just updated imagery in a handful of locations around the world.

As is often the case, you can use Google Maps to determine for sure whether or not a specific area is fresh. This new imagery isn’t in Google Maps yet, so you can compare Earth vs. Maps to see what’s new; the fresh imagery is already in Google Earth, but the old imagery is still in Google Maps. If you compare the two side-by-side and they’re not identical, that means that you’ve found a freshly updated area in Google Earth!
Some of the updated areas include:

  • Peru: Lima
  • United States: Georgia (Albany)

If you find any other updated areas, please leave a comment and let us know!

  25. The images are already in GMaps.

  26. The February 6th KMZ is available now.

  27. Oh dear, the new KML shows around 30 areas of updates in FRANCE, all seem to be medium res from Europa Technologies and all, once you zoom in from pretty earth, seem to be either effectively black and white or no better than an ancient colour film.
It can be so much better, and I am now starting to hope that the excellent though dated imagery in my locality does not get an update!

  28. Google Earth has not updated for more than a month. what happened?

  29. McMaster_de says:

I found new imagery at Myrtle Beach and the surrounding area from 12/14/2012
Also the Chiang Kai Shek International airport in Taiwan has imagery from 1/24/2013
Both parts haven’t any red encircles from earlier updates. So, for my opinion, ther emust be a new update.

  30. McMaster_de says:

Wilmington, NC has imagery from 1/4/2013

  31. McMaster_de says:

Fort Walton Beach with Eglin AFB has also imagery from 12/22/2012
