It’s once again time for an imagery update to Google Earth! Thanks to the Palm Beach Gardens GIS Division for letting us know about it.

As is usually the case, you can use Google Maps to determine for sure whether or not a specific area is fresh. This new imagery isn’t in Google Maps yet, so you can compare Earth vs. Maps to see what’s new; the fresh imagery is already in Google Earth, but the old imagery is still in Google Maps. If you compare the two side-by-side and they’re not identical, that means that you’ve found a freshly updated area in Google Earth!

How about old aerial or satellite photos of US cities? I like the feature where you can see historical views but there aren’t a lot of them for some places. Will more be added?

audiored — Yes, more historical imagery is added fairly often, but Google often doesn’t mention it and it’s harder for users to randomly notice it. If we discover new historical imagery for an area, we usually try to write about it to let everyone know.
hmm, i live within the satellite image shown here, palm beach, and whats strange is that we already had an update on 12/10 and now another new update just 3 months later on 03/11.
i wonder if theres a reason for such a quick update again, are there other areas updated so often now, and is it due to their new satellites?
At long last I see some new hi-res imagery in the far south of Scotland (Newcastleton-Langholm-Lockerbie area). Still quite a few areas in Scotland not yet covered though.

The information for Portugal is not correct, the satellite images already have 5 or 6 years and not 2011. The GoogleEarth is giving false information. Sorry.
JOSEPH (Portugal)
Forgiveness, the images are of Castelo Branco (Portugal) July 1, 2010. The excuses for my mistake.
