New Google Earth Imagery - February 24
Google has just pushed out some fresh imagery to various parts of the world, with thanks going to sharp-eyed GEB reader 'Andreas' for being the first to point it out to us!
The full extent of the update is still unknown, but as is usually the case, you can use Google Maps to determine for sure whether or not a specific area is fresh. This new imagery isn't in Google Maps yet, so you can compare Earth vs. Maps to see what's new; the fresh imagery is already in Google Earth, but the old imagery is still in Google Maps. If you compare the two side-by-side and they're not identical, that means that you've found a freshly updated area in Google Earth!

There seems to be no updated imagery for Bosnia Herzegovina(all new images are from jan.24 update).The only difference seems to be the change in color of low res. imagery. Still lacks any current mapping information.

Wow that is beautiful imagery. Google is a very wealthy company to have access to these satellites. I think they are going to have some very advanced software coming out for us in the future.

New Imagery, Sligo, Ireland.
This imagery was submitted by the local authority under the imagery partnership programme,
Aerial photography and lidar was aquired for a new road project in 2006, glad to see it submitted to google for everyone to use.

UK and LONDON
Congratulations to GE for much improved (June 2010 - no long shadows!) new imagery of the whole of the Greater London area. Building of the 2012 Olympics site can be seen.
The newly arrived update in Places also shows good new imagery around Newcastle in NE England, in Somerset and Herefordshire, and around Edinburgh, but there are still the long standing gaps in Scotland

UK: NORTHERN IRELAND
There is an interesting curving sweep of new high res imagery in the mainly rural west of Northern Ireland in places where imagery was of mixed quality before.
There are also a couple of patches of new high res imagery in towns in Ireland south of the border in addition to Sligo, but image quality in Ireland remains very variable.

You can view this new imagery in Google Map or in Google Earth (lat, lng: 35.8775, 7.1136).

Hey!
I'm not sure where I could ask the following question, so I just thought I'd post it in the most recent entry of this blog :)
So I was checking Zakopane (Poland) in GE because I wanted to upload my photos on Panoramio. Unfortunately the map dates back to 2006 and has a very low quality. Well it's almost 5 years, any chance that the map of this town and its region will be updated soon? *please* :)

Why one cannot see the old mid and low-res imagery in historical imagery option? I would be good for comparison of changes in terrain or buildings when there is only one image in the area and the only older is mid/low-res imagery.

UK According to Google LatLong blog we've got the Kate and Willlie wedding to thank for the update of London, but it also mentions the update of Summerset [sic] so perhaps they've had some of that county's famous cider :-)

@Bogdan : You're right. No updates in Romania, just the fact that the medium resolution imagery from Spot now has a lighter color now.
