New Google Earth 5.0 Update Version 5.0.11733.9347

[UPDATED] Google has released a bug-fix update to the GE 5.0 (beta) released first on February 2nd. I don't believe this version introduces any significant new features, but most likely addresses bugs and problems with computer configurations and video cards. There are no release notes for this new versionHere are the release notes, and Google hasn't made an announcement yet. Right now you can only get the update if you download Google Earth from their website and install over the current version. You can download GE from here to get this new version. Google may be planning to remove the "(beta)" from this version and make it the official 5.0 release. At some point, you'll be able to just use the GE Menu "Help->Check for Updates Online" to get this latest version. But, not yet.

Thanks to GEB reader Xavier for being the first to let me know of the new download!

Frank, Google just pushed new imagery - There's brand new data (dated jan-09) for Porto Alegre, Brazil - the old images were from 2003! Sorry for the off-topic msg. Thanks a lot!!!

I have noticed a change that came with this update. When viewing lower resolution historical photography, when you zoom in to the maximum resolution of the imagery, the higher resolution default imagery comes into view if you keep zooming in. This is occuring for the Melbourne, Australia area.

Upon closer inspection, this is a bug. It is only happening in one area for me. -37.847157° 145.169950° is the area in question.

This update now allows me to run GE v5 on my older MacPro G4. I had video issues before this release.

I've tried three times to download and run the latest Google Earth 5 and when I try and run it it locks up with the message in the window title "Not Responding." All I can do is either Ctrl-Alt-Del or click the X to close it and of course I get the Windows Error Message "Program Not Responding"

What gives, it doesn't tell me anything as to what the problem might be? The last Google Version 4 ran fine on my computer?
