Street View for New Zealand Released

Google has released Street View imagery for New Zealand today. It's available in the Street View layer in Google Earth and I'm sure it will be available in Google Maps within minutes or hours from now. Rumors were out this morning based on a premature press release that came out in ComputerWorld. As promised in the press release, it looks like Google did a thorough job creating imagery all over New Zealand. Below are a couple of shots from Street View New Zealand.

Old Ferry Building, Auckland, New Zealand:

Don't forget, you can see full 3D panoramas of each Street View image inside Google Earth. Here are some tips on using Street View in Google Earth.

Cool, now I'll start looking up my friends' houses to see who was home when Google did their drive by.

ahh, not as complete as I thought. The third house I tried, which is just a 10 minute drive from Auckland city center, isn't covered. Still, it's better than nothing.

http://www.suburbview.co.nz has been updated to be one of the first web sites in New Zealand to be using Street View.

It also has the ability to show the properties on Google Earth.

Am i the only one who finds the street name poping up on google street view images annoying or what?

How can you turn that off?

Great to see New Zealand on Street View. However we were disappointed to see that there was quite a hole in coverage in the west of Christchurch. For example we live in Clyde Road which is a major thoroughfare and only part of it is covered by Street View.

Only a minor matter and thanks for a great and very seductive site!
