Google Maps New Additions for India and UAE
According to Mike Pegg's Google Maps Mania, Google has made some significant updates to Google Maps. This is on top of the really cool new addition to Google Maps two days ago which lets you do draggable driving directions. Here are the two main additions:
-
Expanded Coverage for India - In Google Maps, you can now search India with addresses and you can search for local businesses. For example, search for Bombay Hospital, or how about the Taj Majal?
-

United Arab Emirates (UAE) Added to Google Maps - You can now see detailed roads for the UAE. You can't yet search for addresses. Support for searching for businesses is not built-in, but you can search and see web results for things people have already marked with KML. For example, search for "Ski Dubai".
The new data is only available in Google Maps for now. In a few weeks or months they will probably push the new data over to Google Earth as well. For example, the recent layer update added several new countries with detailed roads and searches in Google Earth.

There are at least three airports around Dubai censored with grey layers in Google Maps, but if you zoom in as close as possible this layer vanishes! btw: the airports are not censored in Google Earth.
