Extremes of the Earth
About a year ago, someone at the Google Earth Community called 'satishgsk' did some work collecting placemarks of interesting examples of extremes all over the Earth 
. Examples: 'deepest canyon', 'tallest bridge', 'shortest river', 'largest crater', etc. His post includes lots of photos, but it's better to just look at the placemarks and see the place in Google Earth. The placemark descriptions include photos and a brief description. Note that the "facts" presented are not exactly documented, so the accuracy of the statements may be in question. But, it's a fun collection to load and do some sightseeing.
