Amazing Airport Shown by Google Earth Team

Miniature Airport in Google EarthDuring the Google Geo Developer Day, the Google Earth team illustrated the power of the Google Earth resolution by showing this high resolution aerial photo of an airport. You look at this and say "OK, what's so high res about that?". Well, if you look closely below the airplanes in the lower center, you will notice what looks suddenly like huge people walking by. What you are really seeing are normal sized people walking by part of a miniature version of Holland which is a tourist attraction called Madurodam in The Hague, Netherlands. Check it out in Google Earth . This Google Earth aerial imagery is probably about 3-6 inches per pixel based on other similar photos. Amazing!

Any idea what the strange multi-colored pattern about 1.25 miles east of the Madurodam is? Weird.

Nice! Hopefully the "real" representation of the Netherlands will be completely in detail soon. Nowadays only a few big city's are available. A low score for a country with a broadbandpenetration of around 60 percent...

Will they ever get that high resolution in other places?

That multicolor pattern is probably something military that has been scrambled because of potential sensitive information. Another (larger) example is a bit to the north and north west of that location (on the other side of the Landscheidingsweg en Oude Waalsdorperweg). I think there are some kind of research and UN buildings there.

That multicolor pattern to the east is Huis ten Bosch, which is the palace of Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands. The pattern at the Landscheidingsweg en Oude Waalsdorperweg are barracks of the Royal Navy.
